I’m a bike magazine publisher by day, food fanatic and experimental cook by night.
I’ve had a love affair with food for as long as I can remember. My best memories of growing up center around food. Holidays were all about being in the kitchen helping my mom bake traditional family treats. Family time was often about cooking dinner or learning how to shop for healthy food. Vacations were spent exploring the western U.S. with my dad, finding local cuisine and cooking under the stars.
Later, I learned that my father’s family had a long history in food. Several generations ago the family business was the Steele Wedels Company, a grocery wholesale business with a premium brand: Savoy Foods.
My relationship to food turned into work. My first job was in the kitchen of a senior residence. After college I jumped into corporate restaurant management. After being disillusioned with the corporate life, I drifted into selling restaurant supplies and then moved into other career interests.
I never stopped enjoying good food. I spent several years studying at Mon Cheri Cooking School and Catering with La Cordon Bleu-trained Chef Sharron Shipley. Later I took classes in vegan cooking. My education in food continued over the years by shopping at farmers markets and getting to know the farmers who grow what I eat.
Luvs Good Food is about sharing recipes, cookbooks, restaurants and new explorations in food and beverages. You will find original recipes, recipes shared by chefs, and other tantalizing tips and tidbits for your taste buds.
I hope you enjoy this blog. Let’s share our love of food.
